October Books Haul | 2019

Hi everyone! How are you all?

I had a few book mail packages in the mail this month from my little spending spree. I thought I’d share with you what I bought recently and added to my shelves. I am so excited about all of these and had my eye on them for a while.

Physical Books

The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo

This book has six stories that revolve around the themes of love, betrayal and revenge. I believe it takes part in the Grishaverse world (not too familiar with it) and the tales are inspired by myths and folklore.

I’m currently reading this and it’s my first Leigh Bardugo. I also own the Six of Crows duology but haven’t read them yet. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. The illustrator, Sara Kipin, is an amazing artist and the illustrations add so much atmosphere to the tales. Before I knew about the stories it was the illustrations that made me want to buy it.

Capturing the Devil (Stalking Jack the Ripper #4) by Kerri Maniscalco

Capturing the Devil is the final installment in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. This was a definite buy as I love the series. I’m also currently reading the second book in the series and now with the complete set it just makes me so excited to continue reading.

In the fourth book we are now in Chicago and Audrey and Thomas are ready to solve one last case.

Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell

Pumpkinheads is two seniors who have worked in the Pumpkin Patch every year together but this is their last year before going to college. They are determined to have the best final night together and get up to so many activities!

I’ll just say right now I’ve read this and loved it! I’m sure you all have probably seen this as it’s a graphic novel that I think pretty much everybody owns. This is definitely one I’d recommend to anyone who wants a cosy read that has Fall/Autumn written all over it.

Little Witch Academia Vol. 1 & 2 by Yoh Yoshinari

The Little Witch Academia series focuses on Akko a girl who has always dreamed about being a witch so she attends Luna Nova but the only problem is that she wasn’t born in a magic family and she has no magic knowledge.

These are so cute. I watched this series on Netflix and decided to buy the manga. It is very similar to the Netflix series with a few changes but if you’re fans already there’s no problem. This series is great for all ages and is such a fun read.

What I Bought on Kindle

Lets just say I went on a Tessa Dare binge. On Kindle they were all under $10 each so I’ll quickly go through each one.

A Night to Surrender (Spindle Cove #1) by Tessa Dare

First novel in the Spindle Cove series. Spindle Cove is the home to ladies who do not fit in their society and all live together in a small town. Focuses on Susana Finch who looks after all the ladies who live at Spindle Cove and takes them under her wing. It’s a pleasant place to live until Victor Bramwell and his friends arrives who are ordered to gather a militia.

A Week to be Wicked (Spindle Cove #2) by Tessa Dare

Minerva is the middle child who always has her head in a book and has a love for geology. She has a week to get to Scotland to present her findings at a symposium and seeks help from Colin (Lord Payne), asking for him to accompany her and fake an elopment.

A Lady By Midnight (Spindle Cove #3) by Tessa Dare

Kate Taylor has been on her own for most of her life until she found Spindle Cove but still wants to find out about her family. Corporal Thorne is a cold militia commander and hardly speak to one another without getting annoyed until a group arrives in town wanting Miss Taylor and Thorne steps up pretending to be her fiance.

Romancing the Duke (Castles Ever After, #1) by Tessa Dare

Isolde Ophelia Goodnight is a daughter of an author but after passing away she is left with nothing. Nothing until a she received a letter, goes to a castle to find out that the castle is in fact hers. However, someone is already living in it.

The Surviving Trace (Surviving Time Series) by Calia Read

I bought the whole trilogy on Kindle through the Amazon Store for $4.31 each, so the whole series cost about $13.

This series already gives me Outlander vibes with the whole time travelling and how she already is with someone but when she’s gone back in time she has husband. A Jamie and Frank debackle but hopefully there’s no Jack Randall ugh!

On Goodreads this has been given really good reviews!

Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham

I bought this book for the Gilmore Girls readathon earlier this month. This was the group book. This book is Lauren Graham talking about her experience on Gilmore Girls, shooting the remake and her story on how she landed the role of Lorelai Gilmore. She also covers other stories on her acting career after Gilmore Girls and what’s been going on in her life. It’s under 300 pages so it’s a fairly quick read. I wanted to buy the audiobook but couldn’t find it anywhere I looked. It would be a great experience as it’s narrated by Lauren herself.

Hope you enjoyed this book haul! I love and am excited about all of these books and all the stories they contain. Have you read any of these books?

Until next time…

xx
