Hello everyone! How are you today?
We’re are starting off with talking about the books that weren’t what I expected. I’m taking this as books I had high hopes for them but they let me down.
The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo
I will say I bought this mostly for the illustrations and the gorgeous cover. I was hoping to love it so much more than I did. I ended up giving this 3 stars and I didn’t even finish the book (I think I had one story to go). My favourite was the first story and the twist on tales were interesting and unique to me but after reading a few stories I was kinda done.
This was my first Leigh Bardugo so I’m nervous to start her other books.
The Goddess Test series by Aimee Carter
I went through a mythology phase. Where I would buy YA mythologies, specifically Greek mythology. This was on twist on the tale of Persephone and Hades. I read the whole series, so I was interested enough to keep going, but at the same time I wanted more from the story and characters. I gave the series an overall rating of 3 stars.
Ink and Arrows by Shiruthi
This was an E-Arc I read last month, so if you’ve seen my wrap-up or my review of it, then you’ll know my feelings on this. I was so excited for it as it sounded so cool but it was another one that let me down and I wasn’t attached to the characters or story. I rated this a low 3 star.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I DNF’ed this book. I read halfway and was not that invested in it. Since putting down I haven’t thought about since. I know it’s a lot of peoples favourite but there are so many books I want to get read instead of this one.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
This had an overall rating for 2 stars. 2 because I read the whole book. If someone asked me what it’s about I don’t think I could really tell you. I was reading but nothing was sticking in my brain. I don’t think I was the intended audience as it’s another book people loved. Sadly, this wasn’t it for me.
So yeah these are five books that sadly let me down. What books for you weren’t what you expected?
Until next time…
